Charlotte Sumner

BSc (Hons) Architecture
Part 1 Architectural Assistant

Charlotte studied at Grenfell-Baines School of Architecture at the University of Central Lancashire. She was a student representative for the university during the third year and a student member of RIBA during the three years of undergraduate study.

Charlotte graduated from UCLan in summer 2017 and is now working as a Part 1 Architectural Assistant at Harrison Pitt Architects, before continuing to study her MArch in September 2018.

Charlotte has a keen interest in educational buildings and also the design of residential dwellings and how they have been influenced and adapted by modern living. She is particularly interested in women’s influence of using certain spaces, which continue to be viewed as ‘female’ spaces, such as the kitchen, and how this has affected designing a home.

Due to subjects such as design technology being removed from school curriculums, Charlotte is keen to promote the architecture profession to the younger generation.
