Plans approved for spa and dining at Twin Lakes

Plans to add leisure and dining facilities to the Twin Lakes development of luxury holiday homes on the Cumbria and Lancashire border have been approved

Harrison Pitt Architects acted as planning agents and architects for the scheme to create a fine dining establishment and spa and leisure facilities at the site which lies just outside the Arnside and Silverdale area of outstanding natural beauty.

The development of 53 luxury holiday homes is located at the former Tewitfield Fisheries site near Carnforth. It has been developed by luxury holiday home operator Lodge Quest.

Richard Wooldridge, who has led Harrison Pitt’s specialist team of leisure architects on the scheme, said: “This is a high-quality development that will enhance the facilities on offer to the residents and guests at Twin Lakes. Our proposed design will ensure guests are provided with great views of the lake while dining and relaxing. The sensitive design is also befitting of this beautiful landscape.”

Twin Lakes officially opened earlier this year and the development will become a blueprint for Lodge Quest’s future projects across the UK. The location for the development was chosen to give those purchasing the homes easy access to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks.

The leisure and dining building will be slate-roofed with the walls finished with natural limestone render and larch materials. The design will complement the 53 luxury holiday homes on the site for which Harrison Pitt Architects also secured planning permission in 2015.

Renowned interior designer Karen Gray was brought in to create a unique offering for the three-bedroom residences, blending the architecture with the natural environment and creating a unique holiday experience.

The lake, which was used to farm trout for fishing until its closure in 2013, is the main focus of the 26 acre site. It has been extensively landscaped to allow circular recreational walks around the lake and to connect to other footpaths and cycle routes in the area.
