Planning application submitted for 50 new homes in Galgate

HPA have now made a Planning Application for 50 new homes in Galgate, approximately 4 miles south of Lancaster City Centre.

The Outline Planning Application is for a mix of 2, 3 & 4 bed houses on a site bordered by Stoney Lane, and the A6. The site currently contains a Touring Caravan Site and some small sheds / garages.

The site had previously been overlooked on the grounds of access issues by Lancaster City Council’s Consultants, when they undertook their ‘call for sites’ a few years ago. However, following extensive feasibility surveys and investigation work, follwed by pre-application discussions with the Lancashire County Highways Dept and the Highways Agency; the scheme is now submitted for Planning with agreement in principle with the statutory consultees with regard to Highways issues.

Galgate is a popular village, located on the A6 to the South of Lancaster. The village is less than a mile from the M6 J33, and less than two miles from Lancaster University. There are a good provision of local facilities within walking distance from the site (Shop, Pubs, Doctor’s Surgery and a Primary School), and principal bus-routes pass the site entrance. There is also easy access from the village to popular recreational areas such as the Forest of Bowland AONB and the Coast.

A Planning Decision is expected in December 2012.
